Masthead

These were the original ideas for my magazine masthead after asking people what they thought they suggested all the designs being available in red. Majority of people asked favoured the first design.
I then started to develop this design in different colour arrangements.
After developing the design and colours I realised mixing the colours was not creating the effect i wanted.
I then developed this design for my magazine so it incorporated both the red and white and black.

My Magazine Proprosal Pitch

During the pitch I received feedback on what masthead I should use and the colours. In the video many people were shouting out their opinions about what masthead they prefered so after i went around the class and asked each student to vote on what masthead they liked and in which colour.
I also did more research outside of the classroom asking students around the college as my magazine is also aimed at them.
Originally many prefered the masthead which was staggered in the colour red or black.
I also received a comment on why my magazine was called "THE RANGE" and not just "RANGE" my reason for this is because I feel that the use of the "THE" adds more emphasis to the title and makes it seem like a original.

Distribution Task

Practise Using Illustrator

My Final Product Using Illustrator.
In this lesson I experimented with the software illustrator to make a masthead, as I hadn't chosen my magazine title yet I just experimented word Urban. I used the Adobe color wheel to find colours that compliment each other and contrast.

Today I started writing up my magazine proposal, and drafting my presentation for my pitch. I started to think about ideas for my magazine however there are still a range of aspects of my magazine that I am still unsure about.

Ideas From My Case Studies

 XXL Magazine

- I liked how the front cover was laid out using the graffiti and doodled effect, as it creates a urban and unique layout unlike other magazine front covers.
- I liked how the front cover linked to the content page through images and the colours used.
- I also liked the layout of the content page as it was simple and organised and gives information on each article.
- I also like the layout of the double page spreads as the image spreads across the two pages and has a slightly transparent text box over it.
- I like how the article starts off as an antidote setting a scene to the audience and telling a story which automatically engages the audience.
- I liked how the article on the double page spread was structured differentiating clearly between the question and answer.

MixMag

- I liked how the front cover is aligned neatly and clearly making it easy to read and making it organised and structured.
- I like how the content page for MixMag is organised and layout using a range of images and using a double page for the content pages, and the use of the black background makes the images really stand out.
- I like how the double page spread is formatted with a range of images on the pages.

Im my own magazine I would like to incorporate ideas from both MixMag and XXL

- I would like my magazine front cover to have a unique style and format like on XXL magazine but be organised and neat at the same time.
- I would like my magazine front cover to link to my contents page by using images that link and the same colour scheme, but i would like my magazine contents page to have a similar layout to MixMag.
- On my double page spread I will structure the writing in a similar way to XXl magazine using an antidote and having clear differentiation between the questions and answers.

Class Work - Development of My College Magazine

Today in media I developed my college magazine front cover by changing the colour scheme and manipulating the masthead in Photoshop.
I worked on my content page making the colour scheme and fonts match with the front cover. To complete this task I need to add in some page numbers and changing the colours on the content page.

College Magazine - Work In Progress

The magazine started off using this font and colour scheme. I realised that the colours were not complementing each other but over powering. I also realised that reading the  cover storied were hard not only due to the colour used and the font.
I started to lay out the content page deciding where the pictures will be located, the position of title and the text for the content page. I also choose the location photos I would use for the content page.
I then changed the font used for the cover stories to make it easier to read.

Photo Shoot - 1st 0ctober 2015

Today during lesson I did a photoshoot for my college magazine. I took a range of pictures from different angles and in different locations so I would have a variety of pictures to choose from for my magazine front cover and content page.
